Live Meditative Drone Yoga at Future Yard

Future Yard.
(It’s not so far in the future now.)
Here’s a closer look at what’s not to be missed at Bloom Buildings on 23rd-24th August 2019.

Toucan Tango present… In Bloom.

You might have seen their stalls at the Open Culture Summer Arts Market 2019 in Liverpool Cathedral or perhaps at the Liverpool Print Fair 2019 at the Bluecoat. Maybe you’ve seen their iconic gig posters for artists such as Daughter, Dinosaur Jr, Tame Impala and White Denim.

If not, do not fret. To mark the inaugural Future Yard festival of 2019, Toucan Tango will be taking over Bloom Buildings with a weekend long exhibition, befittingly named, In Bloom.

The Wirral based print studio will also be showcasing work from two of their favourite contemporaries, Luke Drozd (London) and Rainbow (Leipzig).

Not only will the ingenious duo take up shop in our Bloom space, they will also be creating limited edition new artwork for Future Yard which will be available to buy!

And, there’s more.

We are extremely chuffed to announce that The Open Door Centre has been named as the official charity partner for Future Yard 2019.

Here’s the Chief-in-charge, Lee Pennington, with a few words about the partnership:

“Music, culture and the arts is fundamentally core to our work. Taking the conversation of mental health, along with some of the most progressive approaches to addressing these issues in the UK, outside of the clinical world and into young people’s lives in a way which is unique, innovative and vitally needed within Wirral. Future Yard will allow us to achieve this in a very dynamic way.”

“Every penny of any funds generated through the event will go directly into our frontline mental health support/counselling provisions, ensuring Future Yard has a tangible social action footprint and a legacy of not only a fantastic musical event, but also a positive impact directly in the lives of those struggling with their mental health in Wirral.”

To honour our part of the partnership, we will be hosting a live, drone sound tracked (the noises, not the little flying machines) meditative yoga session. A huge shout out to Lynny who will be bringing his home swinger, loops and drones. Accompanying him will be Alice Pea, who will guide us all through a relaxing Vinyasa and Pranayama yoga flow to help ready, relax and centre before we crack on with the sounds of Anna Calvi later that night.

Find us on the Birkenhead Priory Green on Saturday 24th August for the perfect start for your festival day.
