Thursday 3rd September
Open Door is partnering with The Hive to help make an even bigger difference for young people across Wirral. On Friday 9th October, to mark World Mental Health Day, we're inviting students and staff across Wirral to wear something that brings them joy and donate £1 to The Hive and Open Door. Every participating school will receive a wellbeing resource pack to support positive conversations about mental health in the classroom and the chance to win a school trip to The Hive.
Why is this such an important campaign?
Both charities meet the evolving needs of local young people who are proportionally affected by poverty, both The Hive and Open Door provide free services for young people to benefit their mental wellbeing.
At Open Door Charity, we work with young people to reimagine what mental health support looks, sounds, and feels like using innovation and lived experience as catalysts for change for young people. Our objectives include; provide free, immediate mental health support without waiting lists, shape meaningful change in mental health by transforming cultures with creativity at its heart. Open Door has contributed to the resources sent to schools and hope this can bridge the gaps around talking and engaging with young people’s mental wellbeing creatively.
The Hive was created to be a physical space that hosts a range of programmes that nurture and give agency to young people and cultivate friendships, learning and confidence building over time. Youth workers and volunteers confidently support the growth of young people outside of the classroom and their homes, creating a space for rest bite, escapism and education. We hope with this campaign we can lift more young people to engage with their mental wellbeing physically through accessing The Hive and supporting the future of the charity.
How can you support?
You can support the campaign by sharing with local schools and spreading awareness of the two charities involved. If you need more information on programming, types of support and how else you can help outside of the ‘Bee Yourself, Bee Joyful’ campaign.
